Inspiration

Open structures and networks, layers revealing what lies beneath continue to excite.  Anni Albers approach to weaving and the work of Lucien Day also have an influence.

Reflections, cast shadows, what is held by the viewer, the uncertainty of our own visual interpretations of these also feature in Dawn's approach to her work.  Dawn continually explores balance and rhythms and is fascinated by the illusions created by parallax.

Although the History of the Native American Indians and their craft continue to inspire, recent work has been exploring the rhythms and patterns produced by the continual journey of water, oceans, rivers and waterways.

Much of Dawn's work is based on a feeling, an impression or sense which evokes the imagery she uses to create fluid surfaces.  Current work explores the Bullfight, the illusion, mystery and splendour that surrounds the age old ritual.
